Me and Scone Hockey
I struggled with this decision, but felt it had to be done for my own mental health, for my career and for my family.
Effective this Friday, I will be resigning as Scone Hockey Association secretary and publicity officer. The pressure of the past few weeks have resulted in me doing things I have regretted and caused me great stress. At this time of my life, it was something I did not need.
I thank everyone for their support and do appreciate it. I wish my successors all the very best. I wish I had left under better circumstances but sadly, it wasn’t to be. It was a hard decision to make, but I had to bite the bullet.
Again, thanks for all the support. I do appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.

Happy Birthday NBN 3 Newcastle
Last night, the local Nine affiliate/O&O (depending on who you talk to) NBN Television marked its 50th year on the air with a “special” edition of its Sunday night news bulletin. I’d dare say if the cricket wasn’t on, they could’ve expanded it to an hour and ran a retrospective in the 2nd half hour. Oh well, that’s life.
The full weekday team (Paul Lobb, Natasha Beyersdorf, Mike Rabbitt and Gavin Morris) presented the bulletin, instead of regular weekend presenter Jane Goldsmith (who does make an appearance at the end).
Naturally, because I’m a sadist media geek, I recorded, converted and uploaded the relevant bits to YouTube. It’s a compilation of that 30 minutes, focusing on the relevant bits, those being:
- Tash teasing the bulletin
- A signpost with NBN 50 Years logo
- The opener and intro to the first story
- Paul’s story on the first night of NBN-3
- the tail-end of Gav’s weather as presenters and CEO Deborah Wright enter the studio
- Deb Wright’s piece thanking a lot of people
- The closer, featuring Paul Lobb’s tribute to the station. A lot of archive footage here.
And yes, I know I’m a week late with this piece, but last Monday (27/2/2012)’s 50 Years clip is also up, going back to the Tonight show as Paul Lobb interviews WP Brennan.
